Service:
As the Center's LEND Director, Dr. Urbano oversees implementation of training in neurodevelopmental and related disabilities to trainees from a variety of health related disciplines and family trainees. She also oversees community-based training and technical assistance. As the Center's UCEDD Director of Training, Dr. Urbano leads the Training Council and provides oversight of the broad scope of training to foster and support training programs. She also directs the UCEDD Health Area. In this role, she works closely with Center and Vanderbilt clinics. Dr. Urbano has a doctoral degree in adult/continuing education, a Masters in Public Health, and an RN. She has almost 40 years of community-based nursing experience, with 20 years specifically in developmental disabilities. She served as Director of Nursing Training, Training Coordinator, Associate Director, and Acting Director of the Mailman Center UCEDD at Florida's University of Miami; and as Professor and Associate Dean of Lifelong Learning at Vanderbilt's School of Nursing.
