The Maternal and Child Health Bureau (MCHB) is part of the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), an operating division of the U.S. of Health and Human Services. MCHB administers programs, supports research, and invests in workforce training to ensure the health and well-being of mothers, children, and families across the lifespan. In partnership with states and communities, MCHB supports healthcare and public health services for more than 60 million people nationwide. Their goals include:

  • Assuring access to high-quality and equitable health services to optimize health and well-being for all Maternal and Child Health (MCH) populations;

  • Achieving health equity for MCH populations;

  • Strengthening public health capacity and workforce for MCH; and

  • Maximizing impact through leadership, partnership, and stewardship.

Division of Maternal and Child Health Workforce Development (DMCHWD)

The DMCHWD within MCHB supports and educates leaders in maternal and child health. The division provides leadership for state- and community-level programs to support the development of the MCH workforce.
