Trainees joined this webinar to learn about the Emerging Leaders Community and how you fit within the AUCD Network. Presenters shared resources and opportunities to help you make the most of your traineeship! Former trainees or fellows are were encouraged to attend.
Presenters:
Mollie Blafer (she/her) has an MEd in College Student Personnel Administration from James Madison University and a BA in Sociology from SUNY Cortland. Before joining AUCD as the Program Manager for the Emerging Leaders Community, she served as the Network Data and Systems Specialist for a place-based county initiative in North Carolina, working to ensure families and children have access to resources for healthy development. Mollie was responsible for developing and managing a referral database used by specialists in medical offices and nurse home visiting programs. Mollie also has a background working in higher education with students, faculty, and staff in areas of career and academic advising, volunteer service learning, and new student orientation.
Aliana I. Romero, AuD, CCC-A, is a pediatric audiologist at the Mailman Center for Child Development, University of Miami. She is the daughter of Cuban and Puerto Rican immigrants and is originally from Atlanta, Georgia. Dr. Romero received her Doctor of Audiology degree from Nova Southeastern University and a BS in Health and Human Performance with a concentration in Exercise Science from Georgia College & State University. She is an active member in the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) and the Florida Association of Speech-Language-Pathologists & Audiologists. As an audiology extern, she completed the curriculum in Leadership Education in Neurodevelopmental and related Disabilities (LEND) at the Mailman Center for Child Development
Connie is a Registered Nurse and 3rd year Doctor of Nursing Practice candidate with a focus in Executive Leadership at the University of Oklahoma Health Science Center. She is a 2nd-year advanced trainee in OK LEND. She is passionate about equity and inclusion of people with disabilities in healthcare.
Blake Warner is a Doctoral Candidate in Psychology with a dual specialization in clinical and disaster psychology at the University of South Dakota. He has previously completed two years of SD LEND and is currently serving as a UCEDD trainee and completing a predoctoral internship at the UCLA Tarjan Center. He is passionate about creating opportunities for self-advocates, connecting with trainees across the network, and LGBTQIA+ mental health advocacy.
Jennifer Arnoult is a 4th year Audiology Doctoral student at Louisiana State University Health Science Center. She is enrolled in the GA LEND program and is completing an externship at the University of Georgia's Speech and Hearing Clinic. She is passionate about early intervention and bringing quality audiological services to her hometown.
