Webinar Description:

This webinar offered interested potential applicants an opportunity to interact with the AUCD Leadership Academy faculty. The webinar featured a brief overview of the 2024 Academy curriculum and timeline - followed by a time for questions from potential applicants to the 2024 AUCD Leadership Academy. In addition, alumni shared their reflections about the benefits they gained from participation in the week-long academy. and the follow-up activities.

Headshot of Mark Crenshaw Mark Crenshaw, MTS, is the Assistant Director of the Center for Leadership in Disability. He also serves as the Director of Interdisciplinary Training and the Training Director for Georgia’s Leadership Education in Neurodevelopmental Disabilities (GaLEND) program. Mr. Crenshaw’s work focuses on developing disability leaders, building and sustaining community partnerships, and increasing the inclusion of individuals with disabilities in their communities.

Andrew Roach is a Professor and the Coordinator of the School Psychology PhD Program in the Department of Counseling & Psychological Services at Georgia State University in Atlanta. He also is co-principal investigator on the a 5-year, $4 million grant from the U.S. Department of Education to evaluate the effectiveness of the Cultivating Awareness and Resilience in Education (CARE) professional development program with elementary special education teachers. Andy is a facilitator with the Center for Courage & Renewal.

 

 


Headshot of Jeiri FloresJeiri Flores, BS is a strong, passionate Puerto Rican disability rights activist from Rochester, NY. Currently, Jeiri serves as a resource for residents in her community by connecting them to existing services and supports. She also acts as the Self-Advocacy Discipline Coordinator for the University of Rochester’s LEND Program. She serves on advisory committees for: Rochester’s Complex Care Center, a comprehensive care setting for adults with childhood- onset conditions; Self Advocacy Resources Technical Assistance Center; and the Rochester City School District Special Education. As a disability advocate, Jeiri shares her unique perspective at various colleges and conferences where she introduces attendees to the struggles and invisibility people with disabilities face. She provides insight regarding inclusion, citizenship, disability-intersectionality and challenges that remain unaddressed by society. Additionally, she has facilitated a variety of disability awareness workshops and has consulted with NYS Partners in Policymaking Program and the Strong Center for Developmental Disabilities. Jeiri hopes to influence young disabled people to fulfill their purpose and create a new narrative for what it means to be disabled.
