A collaborative initiative between the University of Wisconsin’s UCEDD, the School of Medicine and Public Health’s Department of Pediatrics, and the Bluebird Way Foundation. There will be five virtual Family-Led Academic Grand “FLAG” Rounds sessions in 2025, with a focus on ableism in pediatrics. This model training targets health care learners, including medical students, residents, and students in nursing, social work and related fields. The Family Faculty presenters are all family members of children with developmental disabilities and complex medical conditions and will integrate lived experience into competencies for caring for children with disabilities. These quarterly trainings are open to a national audience (and Canada).
Register to attend the first session, "Whose Expectation is it Anyway? Access, Care and Humanization" on January 16th, 2025 at 12:00pm CST. FLAG Rounds founders are Danielle Gerber, WI LEND Family Discipline Alumni and current Training Coordinator, and Cara Coleman, JD, MPH Executive Director of the Bluebird Way Foundation.
