AUCD's Autism Special Interest Group (SIG) is pleased to announced the new:
Vice Chair Position
This is an exciting new leadership opportunity for an up-and-coming leader in the Autism Community.The Vice Chair of the Autism Special Interest Group (SIG) will work closely with the co-chairs Brian Be and Dr. Laura Carpenter on SIG activities and events throughout the year.
Specific Responsibilities and Time Commitment
- One-year long position starting in September 2021
- Attend 8-12 meetings throughout the year
- Support planning for SIG activities such as the Autism Acceptance Month webinar series in April and the SIG meeting at the AUCD Conference in November
- Communicate and engage with SIG members and interested members through listserv and meetings
Who should consider applying?
- Self-advocates who self-identify as being on the autism spectrum
- Family advocates
- Trainees (current or former)
Why apply?
- Develop and apply your leadership skills
- Build relationships with AUCD Network leaders
- Receive mentoring by the SIG co-chairs
Applicants will be evaluated on:
- Interest and relevant skills
- Past team or leadership experience
- Familiarity with AUCD, Autism, and healthcare
- Connection to AUCD network sites (LEND, DBP, UCEDD, IDDRC) - not required but preferred
Timeline
- Application due August 1, 2021
- Interviews will occur in August 2021
- Position begins September 2021
- Position ends September 2022
