DisCrit Leader/Organization/Analysis


The assignment will be in teams of class members and will get to know and learn about an organization or a disability leader. Each team will be expected to get to know the organization or the disability leader over a period of weeks to understand their history, get a sense of what this person wants for the future, and understand what is working well or not working. Each team will do this project in a series of prescribed steps, which are described in the assignment guide linking the experiences with the broader concerns of the disability community and the readings and discussions from the class. Team reports will be shared in class. The assignment is uploaded in the documents. Enough time to explain DisCrit. It is crucial to review the fundamental principles of Disability Studies (ableism, Social Model of Disability, etc.) to complete the assignments. The concept of DisCrit should be interwoven throughout the didactic.
