Product Description:
Children with cerebral palsy (CP) often have impairments related to gait and physical function that can impact activity and participation as described by the international Classification of Function (ICF) Model. Evidence exists that strength training can have positive changes in strength and body-weight supported treadmill training (BWS) can improve gait and function in children with CP. The purpose was to compare the impact of these two interventions on the Participation domain of the ICF in children with CP. Eight children with CP, between 6-18 years participated in both BWS and strength/weight training (WT), 3 times per week for 6 weeks. We compared scores on the Children?s Assessment of Participation and Enjoyment (CAPE) on Diversity, Intensity, and Enjoyment between interventions.
