Part of Career and Life Studies Certificate (CLSC) program, the postsecondary education program for young adults with intellectual disabilities. Course Description: Course will introduce students to a variety of employment skills necessary to become successful in a community-based occupational setting. Students will acquire skills required by employers and be able generalize those skills in the workplace. The development and application of employment skills will include: forms of communication, appropriate behavior, dress codes and hygiene, characteristics of customer service, problem solving, decision making, advocacy and disclosure. Students will learn and practice application and interviewing skills. Course will include mock interviews, video modeling, resume and cover letter development, and opportunities for real work interviews. Students will be able to demonstrate and apply the employment skills necessary to obtain gainful employment.
