Pablo Juárez, MEd, LBA, BCBA

At-Large Member

Pablo Juárez, MEd, LBA (TN), BCBA is a Senior Associate in Pediatrics and Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC), and in Special Education at Vanderbilt University. He is Co-Director of TRIAD, the autism institute at Vanderbilt Kennedy Center (VKC), as well as Director of Behavior Analysis for VKC and Developmental Medicine at VUMC. In addition to these activities, Pablo also serves in the Board of Directors for The Arc of the United States, and various other state and national workgroups and committees.

Pablo has served people with disabilities since high school when he began working in a residential home for young men with intellectual and developmental disabilities. He went on to attend University of North Texas (B.S.) and Vanderbilt University (M.Ed.) where he received training in applied behavior analysis and special education. His career began in 2001 as a therapist on a multidisciplinary team specializing in acute neurobehavioral brain injury rehabilitation. He joined VKC and TRIAD in 2008, and since has played a key leadership role in developing sustainable statewide services for children on the spectrum and those with related conditions and disabilities. He has been the principal investigator in over $40 million in grants to support technical assistance and training across Tennessee and Co-investigator on over $10 million in research grants.

In recent years, Pablo has recently been focusing on developing community-informed and community-assessed practice models, in which service delivery is guided and assessed by the communities practitioners directly impact. This includes a heavy focus on substantive community engagement with the various communities relevant to service delivery (e.g., those with lived experience receiving the services, autistic advocates, autism advocates, caregivers, educators, other professionals).
