A. Personal Statement
Dr. Nelson is a Master Trainer certified by PCIT International, the organization overseeing training and practice standards for the evidence-based treatment, Parent-Child Interaction Therapy. She has been a member of the national PCIT Advisory Board since 2005 and is currently the Chair of the PCIT Board of Advisors. She is a co-author of the Dyadic Parent-Child Interaction Coding System - 3rd edition manual, which guides the behavioral observation coding system used in PCIT and has developed nationally recognized training methods for this system. Dr. Nelson has led the nationally known PCIT training program at OUHSC for 5 years.which provides training in PCIT at the state, national and international level. Dr. Nelson is the PI on a 6-year state-funded grant to conduct and evaluate training of PCIT therapists and an Investigator on a federally-funded telemedicine project described above. She is the PI on several in-house PCIT evaluation projects and serves as the supervisor for the PCIT research lab. Additionally, Dr. Nelson has published research on evaluating evidence-based treatments for children and on the treatment of behavior problems in children with developmental disabilities
