Within her university, Dr. Pearson has headed clinical teams providing developmental/psychological assessments to infants, children, and adolescents with a variety of concerns (e.g., ADHD, autism, HIV). She is heavily involved in the training of medical students, psychiatry residents, and child psychiatry fellows. In this role, she provides lectures and seminars on normal development, developmental disabilities, and developmental psychopathology. Dr. Pearson also provides service to the professional community beyond the university setting. She has served as member of the CPDD (Child Psychopathology and Developmental Disabilities) study section at NIH, and also serves on the editorial boards of Clinical Medicine: Psychiatry and the Journal of Child and Family Studies. Dr. Pearson is also a long-term member (and former president) of the Board of Directors of The Arc of Greater Houston, and serves as the UT Health Science Center representative to the Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities Planning Advisory Council (IDD-PAC) of the Mental Health and Mental Retardation Authority of Harris County (MHMRA).
