Brief Resume
Prior to completing her graduate education, Dr. Patrick worked at New York Medical College in the Center for Primary Care Education and Research. With the support of a federal grant, she aided primary care clinicians in defining, implementing and reporting their research projects. This work was mostly in the field of medical education and pediatrics. Her subsequent move to Winthrop University Hospital allowed her to be part of a new outcomes research program, expanding her research beyond that of primary care and into such specialties as pulmonary and critical care, pain management, and palliative care. As the former Director of Research and now the Chief Academic Officer and Co-UCEDD Director at the Westchester Institute for Human Development (WIHD), Dr. Patrick has combined her interests and experience and developed an overall research agenda for the organization, which targets the areas of health outcomes, assistive technology, autism, education, and transition. The research agenda at WIHD is meant to ultimately improve the lives of individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities who are living longer, have higher prevalence of chronic diseases than the general population, and who require innovative approaches to achieve better outcomes.
