Bio - Peg Monteith
Peg Monteith has over forty years of educational experience including teaching both general and special education; obtaining a Master's degree in special education from the University of Northern Colorado and a second Master's in education leadership from the University of Wyoming. After serving as a local district director of special education and Title I in Platte County SD #1, Peg worked as a special education consultant and advocate for students with disabilities and their families before beginning work with the Wyoming Department of Education. While there she served as a consultant in special education, Director of Title I and Federal Programs under NCLB, and finally as the State Director of Special Education for WY. From 2006-2012 Peg served on the board of the National Association of State Directors of Special Education (NASDE) including serving as President of that organization. Peg began her work as the Assistant Commissioner for Exceptional Student Services for the Colorado Department of Education in February of 2012. Prior to retiring July 2021, Peg served as the Student Support Services Director and Interim Superintendent for Park County School District 6. Her work included behavioral health and suicide prevention collaborating with Healthy Park County.
