Marie Channell, PhD

Dr. Marie Moore Channell is an associate professor in the Department of Speech and Hearing Science at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. Her research characterizes the development of social and communication skills in people with intellectual disability, with a particular focus on supporting independent living outcomes in youth and young adults with Down syndrome. Dr. Channell earned her Ph.D. in Developmental Psychology from the University of Alabama in 2012 and spent 3 years as a postdoctoral fellow at the University of California, Davis MIND Institute. She joined the faculty at the University of Illinois in 2015.
