Vita/Bio:
Dr. Stephen Contompasis, Vermont ILEHP Program Director is Associate Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Vermont, and on the clinical staff at Fletcher Allen Health Care. He also serves as a consultant to the State of Vermont Health Department, Division for Children with Special Health Needs. Dr. Contompasis came to Vermont in 1991 after medical school in Boston at Tufts University and pediatric residency training at Dartmouth. He was a pediatrician in New Hampshire for three years before returning to Boston to complete a fellowship in developmental disabilities at Boston Children's Hospital. He is board certified in Pediatrics with subspecialty certification in Neurodevelopmental Disabilities and is board eligible in Behavioral Developmental pediatrics. His research and professional interests include: creation of new tools for developmental screening; long term affects of neurodevelopmental disability upon growth, nutritional status, and metabolism in children and adults; early identification and intervention in children who have autism or related disorders; interdisciplinary assessment of feeding disorders in children with neurodevelopmental and related disorders; continuing medical education and training for community providers of care to children who have neurodevelopmental and related disorders, and their families.
