Cheryl Messick serves as the Director of Clinical Education in the Department of Communication Science and Disorders overseeing all aspects of clinical education for master's level speech/language pathology graduate students and clinical doctor of audiology students. She has presented at national conferences on processes involved in clinical education/supervision and has served as a consultant to several University programs regarding methods for optimizing clinical education. Dr. Messick is a faculty member of the LEND Center of PIttsburgh, a Maternal and Infant Health funded LEND center at the University of Pittsburgh. Through LEND she teaches processes of multidisciplinary team-based and family-centered services. Dr. Messick has provided consultation services to the state office of Developmental Disability Services to increase adjudicator understanding of speech/language disorders. Her clinical interests focus on providing speech/language services to young children and in particular to children with developmental disabilities.
