Product Description:
To understand the importance of early childhood services at a deeper level, the Texas Center for Disability Studies (TCDS) was tasked by the Office of Early Childhood Coordination to investigate the perceptions and experiences of parents of children under the age of seven, and of professionals and providers, concerning early childhood services. The TCDS developed a survey for professionals to investigate their perceptions of the service system in their communities for young children. The survey queried respondents about the adequacy of the system in the areas of early care and education, mental health, family support and parent education, and medical care. In addition, TCDS conducted 11 parent focus groups, in strategically selected locations, to ensure ethnic/cultural, geographic and economic diversity, as well as addressing interests of urban, rural and frontier populations.
