The ability to link various administrative records is among the most important advances for those interested in issues of health, family, and policy in MR/DD. Using examples from TN-statewide databases, this article provides a basic primer in how to embark on a large-scale database project and which specific steps need to be accomplished to link one adminstrative database (e.g., Birth Records) to another (e.g., Hospital Discharge Database).
