Product Description:

Multichannel cochlear implants were approved by the FDA in 1984 and are widely used as a treatment option for severe to profound hearing loss. A speech testing protocol called the Minimum Speech Test Battery (MSTB) was first developed in 1996 to determine cochlear implant eligibility and to monitor benefit. The MSTB was revised (MSTB-3) in 2022 addressed changes to cochlear implant candidacy requirements to included people with better low frequency hearing and single sided deafness.
