Product Description:
This article describes a model for working with educational teams. The Beyond Access (BA) model encourages team members to think about how to move beyond creating accessible contexts for students to a broader focus on membership, participation, and learning. The BA model includes a process for assessing and improving upon the supports currently provided students as they engage in the general education curriculum in general education classrooms. This paper describes the response to the model of five educational teams working with five different students with significant disabilities. The results are presented and discussed for their educational, professional development, and research implications.
