One of three training curriculum written to provide direct care providers with a basic understanding of the respect, opportunities for interpersonal relationships, and communication that are the basic human rights for people with disabilities. Content for this curriculum was provided by multiple authors - all people with disabilities who contributed their own unique perspectives and experiences about communication. This curriculum is designed to remind those directly involved with people with disabilities of skills they already have and to help them acquire some new communication skills. Readers will learn how to help people with disabilities personally, instead of clinically, and how to empower people with disabilities to control their own lives.
