After participation in this module, students will: 1) Define disability; 2) Describe common etiologies of developmental disabilities; 3) List the components and rationale for evaluation of a child with global developmental delay; 4) Define the types of neonatal medical settings; 5) Discuss definitions and causes of low birth weight and preterm birth and associated public health issues; 6) Explain the association between peri- and prenatal medical risk and developmental disabilities; 8) Describe the direct and indirect effects of preterm birth on the central nervous system; 9) List interventions for at-risk infants.
