The Guidelines for Working with Students Who Are Deaf or Hard of Hearing In Virginia Public Schools is the approved VA Dept of Ed document to provide resources and best practice suggestions to enhance the provision of services to students who are deaf or hard of hearing to support their educational goals. They are written for special and general education administrators, teachers of the d/hh, related service providers, parents and family members. The Guidelines were approved March 2008, printed May 2008 and disseminated at no cost to 109 administrators and 231 teachers and related service providers through trainings done in summer and fall 2008 as well as mailed to an additional 65 special education directors and are posted on the VDOE website for public access.
