Product Description:
Increasingly, in order to explain and mitigate the growing threat of emerging and re-emerging infectious diseases we look to ?enabling? technologies such as Geographic Information Systems (GIS) which allow us to integrate and map different types of spatial and health data for analysis by health economists, public health specialists, medical care providers, et al. The implementation of GIS allows us to explore the social, economic and environmental conditions that affect the risk and susceptibility of infectious diseases to a human population. In the proposed study the author utilizes GIS as a screening tool in examining the impact of the tourist industry upon the coastal environment in Trinidad and Tobago and the physical and mental well-being of its population.
