The spring, 2009 issue of the VIUCEDD publication "Harambee" has informative articles about emergency preparedness issues for Virgin Islanders with disabilities. There are articles by Karen Levin from the National Center for Disaster Preparedness at Columbia University, one by Cyrille Singleton a Certified Emergency Planner, one by Jacqueline Heyliger of VITEMA and one by Mark Vinzant on a Circle of Friends. Included are two new forms for copying: one is a preparation list for persons staying in their own homes which includes a list for a go bag in case one must evacuate their home; the other form is a new medical summary information form giving information on diagnosis,medications, assistance and special needs. It is hoped that a trifold pamphlet can be developed from this content for even wider distribution to individuals and families with disabled persons.
