This exhibit of photographs and decorated wood guitars is the result of the 2009 Vanderbilt Kennedy Center Music Camp. The camp is a week-long residential program in which campers celebrate music by participating in a songwriting workshop, recording session, songwriter?s night, and a live performance at the Grand Ole Opry. Campers are individuals with Williams syndrome or other developmental disabilities.
In 2009, campers participated in an art workshop held in the theater of the Monroe Carell Jr. Children?s Hospital at Vanderbilt. They designed and painted these wood guitars while Kix Brooks, of the country music duo Brooks and Dunn, entertained and visited with the group.
