Epilepsy, also called a seizure disorder, is a neurological (brain) disorder. Individuals who have epilepsy may have a few or a lot of seizures at any time. Epilepsy affects many people, especially young children and the elderly. David King-Stephens, MD, a Neurologist at the University of California, San Francisco, answers questions about epilepsy on this CD. Dr. King-Stephens talks about what happens when someone has a seizure, types of seizures, and how doctors treat seizures. The audio files were produced by Smarter Medical Care, Inc for Project Access. Project Access is a federal grant that was awarded to the University of Southern California, University Center for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities at Children?s Hospital Los Angeles. The goal of Smarter Medical Care and Project Access is to help families get better access to medical care and information about epilepsy and to find services for yourself or your family.
