Product Description:
Seminal research has clearly documented that individuals with FAS are at increased risk for serious, life-long, negative outcomes emerging during late adolescence or young adulthood, known as secondary disabilities. Some of the more serious secondary conditions are risk of alcohol abuse, mental health issues, injury, poor health outcomes, incomplete education, incarceration and failing to achieve independent living. This poster describes the Project Step Up designed to reduce alcohol consumption and related negative consequences in adolescents with FASDs by providing a brief intervention that addresses strategies to cope effectively with the pressures associated with alcohol misuse. The intervention consists of 6 group sessions of 60 minutes each, delivered over the course of 6 weeks.
