Product Description:
Early detection of risk factors for child abuse potential in caregivers is an important component of preventional and early intervention. Research has identifited several key factors taht may increase the likelihood of child abuse, including: parental believe in the value of corpoal punishment (Crouch & Behl, 2001), parent /child interaction styles (Haskett, Smith, Scotte, Sabourin, Ward, 2004), and parental substance abuse (Nair, Schuler, Black , Kettinger, & Harrington, 2003). One of the most common factors that can contribute to disrutped of negative parenting is parent stress (Webster-Stratton, 1990). Several studeies have linked parenting stress with increased risk for child abuse in typically devloping children (Guterman, Lee, Taylor & Rathouz, 2009), as well as with children with developmental delays (Rodriguez & Murphy, 1997).
