In their collaborative work with states and educators on alternate assessments based on alternate achievement standards (AA-AAS), staff at the National Alternate Assessment Center (NAAC) and the National Center on Educational Outcomes (NCEO) have encountered several common misperceptions about these assessments and the students who are assessed using AA-AAS.
