The UCEDD Family: Promoting and Supporting the Involvement of Families as Faculty, Staff, and Advisors Beyond LEND Programs

We recognize that Family as a profession is not limited to LEND programs, nor is LEND the only arena for families within our network and individual agencies. UCEDDs have worked with and employed family members in a variety of capacities including leadership roles as training coordinators, program directors, and staff as well as consultations, UCEDDs and LENDs share a common value that the participation and leadership of families as faculty and staff strengthens their programs and actualizes a commitment to family involvment in educaion, research and service. For the last six years, the LEND Family Discipline workgroup has tracked and presented the growth and role of family as faculty and trainees in LEND. This year, we have begun identifying and tracking the other roles for families in UCEDDs. This poster illustrates best practices, identifies barriers and benefits, and suggested strategies to increase family involvement within the UCEDD Network.
