The Family Navigator Clinic trains interdisciplinary post-graduate trainees to coach parents to (a) analyze their child?s IEP(s) and cross-disciplinary assessments; (b) articulate issues accordingly; and (c) develop a concrete plan for parent participation in an upcoming IEP meeting. Pilot data found that parents reported increased feelings of self-efficacy and competence in IEP participation. Trainees gained knowledge about cross-disciplinary assessments and intervention approaches, and facilitation of parent understanding and skill building.
