Resource Services in Omaha's Catholic Schools: A Developing Trend
Product Description:
Approximately ten years ago many of Omaha's Catholic schools had few if any special education or resource professionals capable of supporting students with learning disabilities, ADD, or on the mild end of the autism spectrum. Since then there has been a great deal of change occurring both in Omaha and nationwide to increase the amount of resource services provided to as many of the students in local parochial schools as possible. A review of Omaha's metro Catholic schools reveals moderate size programs in most of the elementary schools with more than 250 students. Some schools have more extensive programs primarily as the result of the dedication of their principals. In most of the Catholic schools with very small enrollments, no resource professional are available. The Catholic schools have much more limited financial reserves to support services than their public school counterparts.
