Evaluation of Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder Evaluations in the Primary Care Setting
Product Description:
Pediatricians estimate that 15% of their practice comprises of children and/or adolescents with behavioral health disorders with the most frequent diagnosis being attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). Primary care physicians and family physicians conduct 1 to 2 new evaluations for ADHD per month and most physicians spend15-45 minutes and at least 2 office visits to confirm an ADHD diagnosis. The purpose of the current study was to compare outcomes and procedures regarding diagnosis and treatment for ADHD within a collaborative consultation model in the primary care setting across three evaluation conditions (i.e., pediatrician only, pediatrician after training from psychologist, and psychologist only).
