Lessons Learned: Functional Adaptations to a Manualized Treatment Protocol for Social Skills in Adolescents with Autism Spectrum Disorders
Product Description:
The Program for the Evaluation and Enrichment of Relational Skills (PEERS) is a parent-assisted manualized social skills curriculum for persons with Autism Spectrum Disorders, between the ages of 13 and 18, to help teens make and keep friends (Laugeson & Frankel, 2010). Due to the programmatic format of PEERS, the manual does not account for all issues that may occur during implementation. This poster is designed to share a number of lessons learned during the implementation of PEERS and provides suggested methods for (a) screening participants, (b) managing behavior, and (c) attending to pertinent social behavior not addressed in the manual.
