Autonomic and Behavioral Sensory Responses of children with Autism
Product Description:
Difficult behaviors demonstrated by children with autism in response to sensory stimuli may be related to systematic variations in autonomic reactions to stimuli. In this study we examine whether autonomic reactivity of children with autism in a controlled laboratory setting is related to their behavioral responses to sensations in everyday life. Our hypotheses are: (1) that lower sympathetic reactivity to sensory stimuli is associated with behavioral under-responsiveness, and higher sympathetic reactivity is associated with behavioral over-responsiveness, and (2) that sympathetic reactivity to stimuli will be different for children with autism compared to typically developing children.
