Product Description:
Until late childhood or adolescence, sleep related complaints come primarily from the parents rather than the child. In clinic settings, parents play a central role in setting treatment goals and defining outcomes. Through a process of shared decision-making with the clinician, client-centered treatment goals have been linked to increased adherence, improved outcomes, and reduced drop-out across a variety of clinic settings. The purpose of this qualitative study is to identify parent-derived treatment goals for children presenting with symptoms of insomnia (difficulty initiating or maintaining sleep). A second goal of the study is to compare these treatment goals to the outcome measures selected for clinical trials; specifically medication trials for pediatric insomnia.
