This chapter in The Heritage Volume of the Mid-South Educational Research Association describes the state of educational research in 1972, the year MSERA began. The introductory paragraphs of this chapter indicates there were three areas of focus. First, the intent was to identify educational research journals and organizations in existence in 1972. The second intent or area was to "explore topics and titles of educational research in Educational Research Journal and Review of Educational Research. The third intent was to compare topics presented during the 1972 MSERA conference to topics in these two journals.
