Product Description:
Basic sleep physiology differs little across the human lifespan. The clinical presentation and manifestation of disordered sleep may vary greatly, however, depending on one?s age or developmental status. Adults with sleep-related breathing disorders (SRBDs), for example, typically experience excessive daytime sleepiness (EDS), whereas children may present with restless sleep, mouth breathing, and inattention. The etiology of SRBD in children is more often associated with craniofacial abnormalities, neuromuscular disorders, and adenotonsillar hypertrophy than with obesity.[1]As opposed to the sleepiness and lethargy experienced by adults, sleep deprivation in children may produce ?paradoxical? manifestations such as hyperactivity, aggression, or risk-taking behavior.
