Product Description:

Developed 4 curriculum unit Exploring Our World, Tools, Machines and Construction, Winter, and Start of School. These units provide rich content across the curriculum strands but primarily focus on strengthening children's language and literacy skills. As part of the Early Literacy Matters projects teacher learned about applied scientifically based reading research to their practice using the Opening the World of Learning Curriculum. During the final year of the project teachers applied their knowledge and skills with the support of ICI staff to the development of 4 curriculum units that building on interest of children and resources found within the community to engage families in children language and literacy skills. These units were printed and distributed in bound booklets throughout the community of Lynn, MA and are posted on ELM website where student teachers and other professionals can access and use the materials to implement curriculum.
