Microarray Facilitates Cytogenetic Definition of Secondary Abnormalities in ALCL
Product Description:
Anaplastic large cell lymphoma (ALCL) accounts for 8-10% of pediatric non Hodgkin lymphomas and is most often characterized by a recurrent rearrangement of the ALK (anaplastic lymphoma kinase) gene at chromosome region 2p23. The t(2;5)(p23;q35) is noted in 83% of pediatric cases; however, secondary genetic abnormalities generally dictate the disease progression and hence a comprehensive study of these alterations at diagnosis is helpful. A combined use of cytogenetics and microarray provides more comprehensive information of secondary abnormalities giving a better understanding of the underlying genetics of disease progression.
