Guidelines for Inclusive Schools, a collaborative effort by The University of Maine Center for Community Inclusion and Disability Studies and the Maine Department of Education, is a set of guidelines for use by school administrative units interested in fostering learning environments in which all students are encouraged to participate and achieve to high standards. The guidelines have been designed after review and analysis of state and national school restructuring initiatives and reflect those values. The guidelines are aimed at stimulating systemic change at the state and local levels that support the free, appropriate, public education of all students, in the schools and classrooms they would attend if they did not have a disability.
