From the Work Center to Community Employment: Nine Employment First Success Stories Presenter: Sue Killam Theme Track: Employment First Format: Presentation/Lecture Level: Intermediate Room: Grand Ballroom 3 This session will outline the employment case studies of 9 individuals transitioning from two large day habilitation centers in New Orleans to community-based individual jobs. Key and unique features of each Job Seekers path will be outlined as they proceed along their journey. Participants will be guided through the steps in the process to support job seekers, staff, and families in switching from day habilitation programs and services to meaningful individualized community employment. Using a mentoring model of providing training and technical assistance to community rehabilitation programs, the HDC works shoulder-to-shoulder with the program management, employment staff and job seekers to implement quality and effective supported employment services.
