Product Description:

Gwen Mitchell, PhD., attended the Western States Genetics Services Collaborative Regional Summit (WSGSC) in Seattle October 1-3. The purpose of the meeting was multi-dimensional and included: State and National updates on activities provided by state genetics, public health, and family advocacy organizations, the Affordable Care Act, and an overview of the WSGSC efforts to develop a user friendly website to present the information in the Act. The Leadership Education in Neurodevelopmental Disorders (LEND) reviewed the feasibility and relevance of current research projects as they related to WSGSC goals and objectives. Also reviewed were the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) program priorities and the Discretionary Committee on Heritable Disorders for Newborns and Children in public health activities.
