Product Description:
Presentation given at AACPDM on Dr. Fowler's research. Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy i a progressive genetic neurological disorder that affects males. Clinically, progressive proximal muscle weakness occurs with loss of ambulation by the age of 11 for most patients. Steroids have become the standard of care and novel therapeutics are currently being developed and tested. We hypothesized that hip joint gait kinetics would be reduced at baseline and improve with 6 months of steroid treatment in 4-6 year old boys with DMD. The results of the study support kinetic gait parameters as valid and sensitive measures for clinical trials in young boys with DMD.
