This paper describes how child welfare systems participate in collaborative interagency initiatives that use some managed care technology and are designed to serve children with serious behavioral health disorders. It describes the premise of interagency initiatives and the promise that such initiatives can hold for child welfare systems. The paper offers full descriptions of three interagency initiatives (one statewide and two local), and identifies the strategies used to include child welfare systems in the interagency initiatives to meet the needs of the children and families they serve.
