Product Description:
In this chapter, we covered the early and more recent concepts and theories of quality of life and the distinct but related health-related quality of life. In reviewing development and the relative merits of some of the measures, we were struck by the frequent blurring of the concepts compared to the measures tangible contents. Because the most common uses of QOL and HRQoL measures are in health care system evaluations, and in clinical and population research, the reliance on measurement domains representing health status may continue to be the most salient despite the theoretical importance of broader QOL domains.
