At the crossroads: How do we merge family centered care, family values and therapist knowledge

This was a case study of a 13 years old boy with an involved family. The purpose of this case study was to look at family values, family goals and family centered care. Many times there are differences in the expectations professionals have and families have for their children during an episode of care. How do we bridge the gap between families and professional and create a relationship that will lead to the best care and progress for the patient? The case study looked at two different tools that focuses on the familys goals and values. The family was involved in creating goals and decision making during the episode of care. Data was collected in a variety of different ways. The reflection and conclusion reflect how this process affected the family and professional, and implications for further research.
