Marcia Moriarta, PsyD

At-Large Member


Dr. Marcia Moriarta is a licensed clinical psychologist and the Catherine McClain Endowed Chair in Human Development and Disability at the University of New Mexico Center for Development and Disability (UNM CDD), New Mexico’s only University Center for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities (UCEDD). 

She is a professor within the UNM School of Medicine with a primary appointment in the Department of Pediatrics and secondary appointment in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavior Sciences.  She completed her doctoral training in Clinical Psychology at the California School of Professional Psychology, Los Angeles and completed her clinical internship and post-doctoral training at the University of Southern California Children’s Hospital Los Angeles Center for Developmental Disabilities and is a graduate of the USC CHLA LEND program. 

She additionally holds a Bachelor’s degree in Mass Communication and Public Relations and Masters of Education in Counseling and Guidance from Boston University.  Dr. Moriarta holds expertise in the areas of early childhood development and disability, early childhood mental health, neurodevelopmental disabilities, trauma-informed care, child/family psychology, as well as demonstrated skill in program development, grants management, and cultivating/mentoring leaders. 

She is a 2014 graduate of the AUCD Leadership Academy and has served in the roles of Executive and Medical Director for the UNM CDD as well as Division Chief for UNM Department of Pediatrics Division of Child Development for nearly 10 years.  She is a recognized leader at UNM and across New Mexico.  She brings her deep history and experience as part of the AUCD Network to her work as an At-large Board member and is honored to serve and learn in this role.
